    • Synopsis
    • WESTERN ARABS is an intimate portrait, a documentary-hybrid, which follows the Danish/Arab family through both good and hard times over a period of 12 years. The father is Palestinian, the mother Danish, and the three sons become a result of the cultural encounter which occurred when the first immigrants arrived in Denmark in the 60s and 70s. In an attempt to get to the core of father´s trauma and not to pass violence down on next generation, the director, and the oldest of three sons, embarks on a difficult journey back to that place which his father left – wishing to find answers, insight and peace.

A story that exemplifies a lot of the families in the Western world who have refugee backgrounds. Families who suffered from war and chaos, and who escaped it by fleeing their home countries.
