    • Synopsis
    • In a dystopian future, in a Brazil of unimaginable large land holding, one last forest resists, enclosed by a sea of soybeans. Inside this forest lives the last indigenous nation, composed of: Walala, a 15 year old girl, strong and curious, who wishes to see what lies beyond the soy desert: her older brother, Kaxi, who has been mute since the disappearance of his mother; and Grandmother Yebá, a devout woman to her beliefs, who denys Walala the existence of a world outside of the forest.

But the truth is: there is a world and Walala is the most famous person in it. Her face is everywhere, from emoticons to cup-cakes. The game Savages of Matto Grosso is responsible for this fame. The game is a safari, in which players the world over pilot real drones, inside the last forest, hunting images of the last savages.

Walala doesn’t know that she is in a game, because she was taken to the woods when she was an infant. She spends most of her days hunting the drones, accompanied by her only friend, Drone 02, piloted by Paul Little, the most famous among the gamers.

One day, a tragedy causes Walala‘s world to collapse. Her brother is dead and the game is suspended. These events trigger urgency in Walala to rescue her disappearing culture. So, she decides to answer the call of adventure and cross the soy desert in search of her mother‘s memory.

After fighting and overcoming numerous challenges, such as autonomous harvesters and pesticide spraying drones, she finally finds the headquarters of the SILO farm, property of Soroya, that controls the farming and the strange game.

Walala is captured, but Paul Little sends a drone from another continent and rescues her. Together, they discover the whereabouts of her mother, Tuíra, who had been stuffed by Soroya in an attempt to immortalize her memory.

The revelation of this dark secret destroyed the reputation of the SILO and of the game, which is now shut down once and for all. The areas around the forest are returned to the people of Walala who, with the help of ex-gamers and drones from around the world, form a large reforestation effort and renew the hope of continuity for the culture of Walala.
