- Synopsis
- Betrothed to Jose, Maria must remain a maiden for a year, but later receives a visit from the angel Gabriel, who tells her of her fate. When Joseph and Mary, now pregnant, travel to Bethlehem for the Roman census, they face a threat from King Herod. The obsession with an ancient prophecy puts Joseph, Mary, and the soon-to-be-born Jesus in danger. Now 12-year-old Jesus makes a trip to Egypt to Nazareth after the young man miraculously brings someone back to life. When King Herod orders the boy's death, the Roman centurion Severus begins to chase the family across the desert. As Maria and Jose worry for their safety, Jesus' natural curiosity allows him to understand more about the world and its extraordinary powers.
