    • Synopsis
    • 'My Best Friend Dadu' In today's times when many nuclear families are getting broken and distorted; 'My Best Friend Dadu' is a story of 3 generations: A genius kid Ravi, his egoistic mother-father, and Ravi's estranged grandparents. Rohit and Divya are a career-oriented couple who are deeply engrossed in their professional life. Both are egoistic, specifically Divya. She believes career is everything in life, even above family and family values. Seems in today's Rat-Race contrived life, both Rohit and Divya have somewhere given up on core Indian values that bind Indian families. They both recurrently have fights and arguments which affect their mental state and peace of mind. So much so that even Ravi, their son was not planned but an accident as per Ravi and Divya. Ravi turns out to be a bright and intelligent child. Now he is 10 years old. Rohit and Divya think Ravi has everything in life but on the contrary as a child, Ravi always craves for his mother-father's love. When he sees other children being dropped and picked up by their parents or family members Ravi thinks why doesn't he get similar love and affection from his parents? He is also fed up by the incessant fights inside the house. All this affects the way Ravi thinks. But our Ravi does not give up. One day while looking for one of his books Ravi bumps into his grandfather's diary. This calls out the bluff of Ravi's parents where they have told him that both his grandfather and grandmother passed away in an accident 10 years ago. Ravi is shocked. He realizes that his grandparents are alive and have not passed away contrary to what Rohit and Divya had portrayed.

They both left the house due to the same egoistic and unrealistic lifestyles of Rohit and Divya. Somehow destiny is on Ravi's side. One day he bumps into his grandfather 'Dadu' at a local stationary shop. Ravi does not reveal his real identity and makes his own grandfather's his best friend. He starts spending an hour every day with them on the pretext of taking tuitions. After spending some valuable time with his grandparents, Ravi decides to do something which had never been heard or seen by anyone in India. He files a case against his own parents in favor of his grandparents. This became one of the top-reported news in the country. Not just that, Ravi is able to bring his own parents to the courts to face the law of the land. In the courts, Ravi argues beautifully in favor of his grandparents. His valid argument is that people all over the world want everything from their parents including their properties in inheritance but they do not want to take care of their own parents in old age, WHY? He further states that today whatever we are is because of our elders. They are the reason we grew to be what we are today. Then why do we tend to ignore them when our elders become weak and when they need us the most? Why do we send them to old age homes or force them to leave their own houses? In a way Ravi's efforts teach Rohit, Divya and many others a big lesson that if we do not treat our elders respectfully then they too could face similar treatment in their old age, getting a taste of their own actions. Our film 'My Best Friend Dadu' is an attempt to show a mirror to society in this fast-paced world infested with a Rat-Race contrived lifestyle.
