    • Synopsis
    • "Brazilians, I kept my word by building this stadium, now do your duty, winning the World Cup". With these words, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marechal Mendes de Moraes, closed his speech on the day of the final of the championship hosted in Brazil in 1950, after the end of the Second World War. It is a presidential election year and all candidates seek to join the football successes to strengthen their campaign. However, there is a man who will change our destiny. Minutes before the final whistle, the captain of the small Uruguayan team destroys the hope of millions of Brazilians, transforming forever the identity of the two nations. Based on “Maracaná, la historia secreta”, by Atilio Garrido.
