    • David Helfgott plays what he feels, says what he thinks, and touches people - in the most literary sense.

      In HELLO I AM DAVID! we embark on a journey into the particular world of David Helfgott. Always on David's side is his 81-year-old wife Gillian who helped him getting back to life after his long suffering in mental institutions.

      Companions and family members cross his path in everyday life and give an insight into a life between genius and insanity.

      We are watching the musician in his unmistakable impulsivity on the big and small stages and wherever there is a piano. Even orchestra and conductor take a while until they are able to embrace the extraordinary play and uniqueness of David Helfgott. The film forms a kaleidoscope of his personality. Pure in his play and in his being – David’s world touches and makes us laugh and think.

      HELLO I AM DAVID! essentially is a film about love. His love for music, his love for life, and the love between the very unlikely couple.
