    • Synopsis
    • Are we living at the end of an era? This was the starting point for a group of leading academics and thinkers (the Aftermath Network) to research
the far-reaching repercussions of the current financial crisis. For me, there is an urgency to this question which has been the trigger to embark on this project. But I also wish to superimpose upon this question another one: Are we at the end of the cinematic era? If we are at the end of an era, what should we keep? What should we take with us and show to future
generations? If this is the end of cinema, what film should I make to commemorate this? This film will be a personal attempt to map some key features of the current internal status quo - the moods, fears and hopes of contemporary Europeans and
Westerners. Investigating the end of cinema serves both as a metaphor and as a parallel to this main theme. This questioning and the ensuing search for
some answers quite simply feels necessary, for me personally and as an artist: What are these times we are living in?
