Daniyar is a teenager lives with his family in an abandoned by people village on the Rebirth Island in the Aral Sea.
Daniyar goes to the closed Zone at Biochemical Polygon. He collects there scrap metal to exchange it for essential goods with a truck driver who comes from time to time.

    • Synopsis
    • Daniyar is a teenager lives with his father and younger brother and sister in an abandoned village on the Rebirth Island in the Aral Sea. During Soviet Union times, here was a military testing ground for biological weapons, and closed military cities Aralsk-5, the Aral-6, the Aral-7. Daniyar’s father worked there and became disabled during the test.
      After the collapse of the USSR, polygon was closed, almost all people left the island, polygon and laboratories on the island became a restricted area.

      Daniyar goes to the closed Zone at Biochemical Polygon. He collects there scrap metal to exchange it for essential goods with a truck driver who comes from time to time.
      His father is an unemployed alcoholic with a disability, constantly immersed in memories. Brother and sister have been born and continue to live in the vicinity of the danger areas that’s why they have signs of adverse biochemical effects.
      Daniyar's dream is to fly by plane to distant country to visit the island where Robinson Crusoe lived. And he want to make movies.
      Once the truck come with foreign journalists, for whom Daniyar becomes a guide to the closed Zone.
      Daniyar shares his dream with foreigners. Tourists give photo camera to Daniyar and give him advice how to become a cameraman. Daniyar runs away from home in the back of a truck, hiding in a mountain of scrap metal. When he arrives to the big city, Daniyar tries to enter the Film Academy, but fails. Selection committee are shocked by the photographs, which have been made on the Rebirth Island. Daniyar returns home to his normal life and says goodbye to his dream, but the dream suddenly became true, although not as he expected.
