Cinando is the premier online network for film professionals offering you the best tools to navigate the film industry: contacts, films, projects in development, market attendees & screening schedules, screeners… it’s all here!
Only professionals working on feature film within the cinema industry are granted access to Cinando: mainly producers, distributors, sales agents and film festivals, as well as TV broadcasters and distributors, VOD platforms, law firms or service companies that specialize in the cinema and entertainment industry. Please remember that only companies can register for Cinando. Sub-profiles are then added for staff members to the company account. Freelancers cannot submit a subscription request. Every subscription request must be approved by the Cinando team.
The subscription fee is 149 euros a year. You can pay online by credit card (all major credit cards are accepted). To subscribe as a new customer, simply click ‘Register’ on the home page and follow the instructions.
To renew your subscription, log in to your existing account. Open the dropdown menu in the upper right corner of your screen and click on ‘Account’. Click on ‘Renew Now’ next to the account you wish to renew. Then follow the instructions. Please note that you can receive complimentary Cinando access when registering with our international market partners. Contact us at contactus@cinando.com for more information.
Each subscription is attached to a company, so you can add as many staff members as you need. Once a new profile is created, the new staff member will receive an email to set her/his password.

In the ‘Info’ tab you will have access to practical information available for a featured market. There you will also find a list of venues and a map showing those venues.

Go to your ‘My Data’ interface and select the Market you’re attending in the ‘Markets’ tab. Input your market address and contact details at this specific Market in the ‘Company’ section. Please choose whether the address is an office (accessible for postal deliveries and meetings) or solely a contact address (for postal and calls).

Making your screener safe is our priority. Access to Cinando is restricted to film industry professionals. The Cinando team regularly updates the Cinando database and pays particular attention to the eligibility of its members and potential subscribers. When you choose to upload a film onto Cinando, you maintain total control of the screener. From visibility to the viewing rights and more, you choose who is allowed to watch your films among the Cinando community: distributors, sales agents, festivals, all members, or by invitation only. In addition, you can hide your film at any time as well as send personal invitations, even to non-Cinando members. You can also restrict access more precisely with geo-blocking (restrict access only to countries where the film rights are available in your film page).
...and that's not all! To make sure your screeners are absolutely secure, we employ the safest technology: your files are protected by cutting-edge DRM security and cannot be downloaded by any third party. Moreover, each film is protected by non-removable individual watermark. In addition, you get access to detailed viewing statistics in your ‘Screener Activity’.
Step 1: Remember that before uploading your screener you have to create a film page, fill all the required information and add a landscape and portrait photo. In order to do this, open the dropdown menu on the upper right side of your screen and click on ‘Company’ to access your ‘My Data’ interface. There click on ‘Films’ > +Add a New Film. Once your film page is set, you are ready to upload the screener.
Step 2: There are 2 ways to upload a screener:
In your film page, click on ‘+Add’ next to the Screener section in the ‘Media’ box.
In ‘My Data’, you can also go to ‘Screeners’ and select ‘Screener Manager’. There you can enter your film title in the search field and click on ‘+Upload screener’.
Step 3: Select a quality package for your screener and click on ‘Select’. Confirm the purchase and follow the upload instructions. You will be redirected to the upload page, select ‘browse’, choose your file and the upload region in which you are based. Wait for the file to be uploaded until the mentions ‘Thank you for uploading! Now you can leave this tab’ appears. You can then ‘Close’ the uploader.
Step 4: You now have to wait for the file to be encoded on the platform (the screener won’t be available right now – it needs a few hours to be encoded to our standard format and to be encrypted). You will receive an email once your screener has been encoded asking you to check and validate the screener.
Step 5: In order to validate the screener, click on the link in the email you have received or log into Cinando and go to ‘My Data’ > ‘Screener Manager’ and click on the edit pen icon next to the screener. Once you are on the screener page, check the film quality (image, sound, duration, english subtitles, end credits). If everything looks fine, click on ‘Validate’.
Step 6: Once you have validated your screener, please make sure to set the viewing rights for your screener (on the left-hand side of the screener page). Here are the options from which you can choose from:
Grant direct access to the categories of users of your choosing (approved distributors, approved sales agents, approved festivals, Europa cinema members or All Cinando members).
Choose ‘Invitations requests allowed’ if you allow Cinando users to send you a request to watch your film which you can either accept or decline.
Select the box ‘Geo-blocking option’ if you wish to restrict access only to countries where the film is available (based on the countries you select as available when updating the film page).
Warning: Cinando Screeners doesn’t support film replacement function. It means once you upload the film, you cannot change or replace it unless there has been an error in the Cinando encoder. Otherwise you need to pay for an extra upload fee.
If the file has a problem, please first check the original file that you have uploaded. The file needs to conform with the technical requirements listed below. If the problem doesn’t come from your file, please contact us at contactus@cinando.com
You can only upload a digital file.
Editorial rules for uploading screeners on Cinando:
All videos should be dubbed or subtitled in English, to be understandable by international buyers, festival programmers, etc.
No advertising, before, during or after the video
No blank sections
No test patterns or countdowns at the start of the video
Image and sound should be correctly synchronized
Internet connection recommendations:
The upload process depends on your internet connection (bandwidth) and the file size. We recommend upload from a connection 2 Mbits per second or faster. Using a 256 Kbit/s connection, a file of 2 GB takes up to 10 hours. If uploading a very large file, you may need a connection of around 10 Mbit per second.
Browser recommendations:
You need an up-to-date web browser to upload high quality videos. This includes the two most recent versions of all major browsers. We recommended you to use browsers such as Chrome or FireFox. You also need an up-to-date operating system.
Video upload recommendations:
Max file size 5GB per video
Accepted formats: .mp[e]g / .vob / .avi / .mov / .mp4
Recommended codecs: MJPEG, Apple ProRes, H264 (bitrate if possible) > 2MBit/s and uncompressed (very large file)
Resolution: PAL and NTSC (as well as SECAM) from 720x400px up to Full HD material (1920x1080px)
Audio: 48kHz sound PCM (only uncompressed) / MP3 / AAC (if possible > 160 kBit/s)
File must be multiplexed (audio and video in one file)
Avoid interlaced videos – this results in bad video quality. Upload only -progressive or de-interlaced videos
Ensure the video has no color bar, or blackness before or after it ends
Subtitles must be integrated/burned into the image
If you need to reformat your file, please use the free software Handbrake and use the documentation here to help you.
