    • Synopsis
    • When I returned to Chile after 20 years in Barcelona, I found some VHS tapes of my childhood, where I discovered the absence of Zoila: an indigenous Mapuche woman, transcendental in my upbringing, who was my nanny for many years. In 2000, she embarked with my family on a one-way trip to Spain, where she soon began her path in the hostelry and in a home of her own in the same city. We continued seeing each other every weekend, maintaining a confusing and very intense relationship that lasts for more than twenty years.
Determined to correct the lack of images with Zoila, I began filming our everyday at her home, asking unsuccessfully, and for the first time, about her original culture. On a long-awaited trip to her hometown, I began to understand her untying and observe her family ties. This made me finally recognize her as the mother who was and is, breaking the traditional family schemes that my parents wanted to film, and in which Zoila had no place as a mother.
