    • Synopsis
    • When So Wa Wai is diagnosed with severe, brain-damaging jaundice shortly after birth, his fate seems to be sealed - he would have to exist with a hearing impairment and crippling cerebral palsy for the rest of his life. When he becomes desperately ill, Wai’s mother, Siu-Ching (Ng) insists on saving him at all costs and is determined to carry on and even carry her son on her shoulders if she must. Her perseverance is rewarded. Not only does Wai thrive, but he also learns to walk and eventually discovers a talent for running. Nicknamed the “Wonder Boy”, he becomes a household name by winning Hong Kong’s first Paralympic gold medal in 1996 and later going on to become a 6-time Paralympic gold-medallist sprinter and to this day, current world record holder.
