    • Synopsis
    • Yoko retraces the forgotten path of Japanese actress Yoko Tani who was, after the war, the first Asian icon in Europe.
After arriving in Paris in 1950 to escape marriage and to study art, this survivor became an actress in the '50s and '60s. She became the first Asian woman to seduce white heroes on the big screen, and engaging in interracial romances, breaking the conventions of the time, and winning at Cannes in 1960 with Nicholas's Ray’s ‘The Savage Innocents’.
Yoko seduced the West with her style and beauty, that she first revealed at the Crazy Horse, during her striptease numbers. She revolutionised the depiction of Asians in western culture, from "Yellow Peril" to "Yellow Fever", and by widening the codes of glamour...
The forgotten journey of this "Asian Josephine Baker" was also the posthumous revenge of a feminist mother who died during the war. Her mother’s pioneering spirit lived on in Yoko.
