    • Synopsis
    • Year of The Goat follows a group of youthful goat-fanciers on the path to glory – a win at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair’s Dairy Goat Competition. To make it to the Royal in November, they must compete in a series of regional shows across the province beginning in June. It won’t be easy, as these kids must balance caring for their goats with school and home life. Ember Vickers’ family, from Guelph, breeds Nigerian Dwarf goats. At last year’s Royal, she was bumped to second place after her goat untied her shoe in the ring. Not this time. Then there’s Anthony Kerr, a shy 11-year-old from Newburgh whose family owns Maple Bliss Dairy Goats. His goats are his passion and Dennis, his grandfather is his biggest fan and teacher. Then, there’s the Emons Family from Southwold. They love LaMancha goats and often win big at the Royal. Theo Emons and his sons Alex and Nathaniel will all be in the ring. Emily and Colin Yantzi run a farm in New Hamburgh, and have three excited children ready to follow in their passion as goat breeders. They have multiple breeds, ready for competition. And there’s Kristen Holyoake and her three kids, who live on a small homestead near Peterborough. Her eldest, Logan, has practiced all year and can’t wait to show off his skills. After a set back from a health scare with the herd, she and her kids are back on track and pushing on to the Royal.
