Karina SIMONYAN (Edgar Baghdasaryan Film Production)
Synopsis
Any empire, after its collapse, crushes human destinies under the rubble. Yasha's fate is the story of an ordinary Soviet employee, who has worked his entire life in quite an unsavory industry, and who is now unable to accept the new realities. He continues to live in a country that no longer exists, but which continues to "haunt" him. Yasha Malayan was a delegate to the 25th Congress of the CPSU in 1976. It's the only bright spot in all his unassuming life, which is coming to its finale. Leonid Brezhnev, like Yasha's alter ego, guides him through his life, voicing what Yasha himself does not dare to say or do. His life is the heroes from the past - Nicolae and Elena Ceausescu, Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, Josip Broz Tito and Erich Honecker, and even the African dictator Jean Bedel-Bokassa. Yasha takes an oath of loyalty to them, which actually creates trouble for his family.
