Rogelio wants to unravel the mystery of death. His parents send him off to Yucatán for vacation with his Mayan nanny. He meets Emilio, an old hermit called Xibalba Monster; it is said Emilio is sick but has made a deal with the Lords of the Mayan underworld to remain amongst the living.
