- Synopsis
- Xandra (38) is married to Michiel (40) and is the mother of Lulu (16). They live in a hip apartment in Amsterdam. Xandra works in a hectic event company for a demanding boss. Apparently happy, she aches for more excitement in her life.
  
  Xandra and Michiel met in their mid-20’s, and she used him to escape her wild but dead-end life in Amsterdam’s underworld. She saw in him a life that she had never had: consistency and reliability, someone to be the father of her child who had been taken into care. Now she has her daughter back, and she finds herself having to work at the love that she’s supposed to give and receive. Michiel walks on eggshells to avoid Xandra’s outbursts of anger, at times telling himself that he stays because Lulu needs him around.
  
  Amsterdam is in the middle of a police clean-up operation. Three gangs cooperate to run a money laundering syndicate and have become a threat to the city’s stability. Michiel’s career takes a step up when he is promoted to become the mayor’s press officer.
  
  Xandra is tempted to once again become involved with her old life when a former friend asks her help to run a high-end escort-party. What seems to be an insignificant one-time misdemeanour becomes an irresistible attraction. Keeping it secret from Michiel, Xandra starts a double life, back in the world she knows. She’s energised and can handle herself. When she’s confronted by underworld figures who say they own her friend’s escort agency, she chooses sides among them rather than give up her new found life.
  
  Driven by his vanity and his need for outer success Michiel becomes the target of powerful forces. A corrupt city government official undermines and manipulates him, delivering him into the hands of the same underworld bosses who threaten Xandra.
  
  Xandra grows in her role as 5-star escort madam. Lulu in the meantime makes contact with her grandma, Xandra’s long estranged mother, Sylvia.
  
  But then events reveal that Sylvia is responsible for both the offer Xandra received to run the escort agency and for Michiel’s promotion. We learn that Sylvia is the most powerful of the city crime bosses, with a drugs operation stretching from Amsterdam to Antwerp and beyond.
  
  When Sylvia threatens Lulu’s life, Xandra finally finds the strength to confront her mother, and a life or death fight ensues. Xandra helps Michiel to save his career. We leave Xandra in power and Michiel once again under her spell.
