Present Day: New York City, Mike (a Caucasian) and Kinta (half-American & half-Japanese) are a pair of struggling comedians who dream of winning an Emmy Award. Just after losing a job at a nightclub, they are involved in a terrible motorcycle accident. After recovering their consciousness, they are surprised to find themselves in a Japanese hospital during World War II. Mike and Kinta realize they have been pre-incarnated as Kamikaze pilots (suicide pilots) of the Japanese Navy. With confusion and emotional contradiction to the reality they suddenly face, they meet other young Japanese pilots who are obliged to give their lives to their country during wartime. They can no longer be indifferent to "death". Some are faithful to their mission, some pray to God, and some hold doubt deep inside. Despite the difference of emotions towards their mission, all pilots eventually fly for the battlefront. As they learn more about the young pilots, Mike and Kinta become irritated at their own helplessness. They are distressed with their fate caught between the future and past. But the time comes for Mike and Kinta to play their roles as Kamikazes. What destiny awaits them?
