    • Synopsis

    • Vani is an under confident introvert who's constantly bullied and teased in school and her neighborhood. Her classmate Vicky is her sworn enemy, he constantly bullies her and his whole gang make fun of her. She is generally very reserved and only comfortable with the family and her best friend Sonu who is much more composed, sensible and also slightly protective of Vani. She often stays cranky and irritable in school when the kids pick on her. Thankfully she has Baba, her grandfather with whom she shares a deep emotional connection. Time to time, Baba comforts her and tries to instill his values in her. He often gives her the lesson that what one really needs is far more important than what others see or think of us.
On the first holiday, while playing she meets with an accident and breaks 2 teeth, one front incisor
and one side molar. Missing incisor made her look funny and the molar gave her a chewing problem.
Everywhere she goes, either elders bug her with the same questions about the missing tooth or the kids make fun of her by calling her “Khidki” (Window). This common playful phrase for a broken tooth escalates Vani's trouble when "Khidki" becomes her second name.
When Sonu tells her that there will be a class photograph on the first day of the school reopening, the thought of Vicky seeing her like this terrifies her. She starts pestering her parents to do something about it, declaring that she won’t go to school if the teeth don't grow back by then. Finally, Sujata takes her to a dentist in the city for a checkup and to their shock the dentist reveals that those were permanent teeth and won't naturally grow back and the cost for artificial ones is Rs. 7000/- for each tooth. It seemed impossible but Baba proposes an idea, he gets an old Gullak (piggybank) out and convinces the family to save up and try and achieve the amount in 3 months’ time.
Halfway through the journey, due to a friend’s medical emergency her Father breaks the gullak and takes the money for his friend leaving Vani shattered.
Seeing everything failing, Baba finally comes up with a solution. He gets his old cycle repairing toolbox out and plans to setup a repair shop in the village. They all gather their energies and decide to come together and do their best to save up enough in the 2 remaining months before the school reopens.
The whole family comes together with one single mission, to save up the money within time and help Vani get her teeth back.
We follow her on this journey of transformation when she starts to realize what is truly important must be valued. These 2 months pass by and the whole family excitedly sit and open the gullak and start counting only to realize that they saved enough for only one tooth.
Vani now has to decide which tooth she wants.
