- Synopsis
- The American music teacher BLUE visits her Turkish friend WILD and her young family in Istanbul after ten years, in which they haven't seen each other. In 1982 they meet at a music school in the USA, where Wild studies and Blue works as a teacher. They are immediately attracted to each other but Blue hesitates to accept her desire. Finally she admits her feelings and invites Wild for a Christmas dinner. But when they get closer and touch each other, they discover that the skin of their hands burns and melts together. After a shock and a visit at the hospital they still can't withstand the temptation. Back at Blue's place they manage to make love without touching each other. But Wild is still desperate, angry and unsatisfied. Things get worse when she finds out that her music career has ended due to the severe injuries on her hand. She decides to return to her country and start her own life without Blue even though it hurts her. Blue asks her for a deal: They will go on with their lives separately, meet after ten years if they decide they can not live without each other and face the consequences even if it means dying. In the following years both of them start a family. Wild contacts a Guru, whose people are able to walk over fire, and he explains the special connection of the two women: They are two suns, which are drawn to each other but burn each other to death. He gives her different items that might help them to stand the pain. But he explains that they have to accept the pain and the pleasure in order to connect and to become one in death. Wild sends Blue a Christmas card every year and one of the items from the Guru. When the ten years are finally over Blue makes her mind up and comes to Istanbul to face their destiny. On Christmas Eve both seem to realize that it's time for the final decision. They prepare themselves for their night of love with oil and salt. Finally they make love and melt into each other.
