- Synopsis
- Based on the novela by Dostoievski. Amadeu, butcher, an expert deboner, lives isolated from the world in São Paulo. He is a dreamer, and wonders around the downtown area of São Paulo at night, always admiring the Statues in the traditional squares in the area. One night, he sees a young woman who is crying, she’s on the St Ifigênia bridge. Below the bridge, instead of water what we see is a continuous flux of car lights. He gets close, she moves away from him at first, but they finally start talking. He is able to open himself to her and during four nights, we witness the possibility of the development of a relationship between them. The young woman is waiting for the man with whom she fell in love, an European of Algerian descent, who came to Brazil to learn the trade of the expert car body repairmen who work in Europe, fixing cars hit by gravel. He promised to come back for her and meet her at this very bridge. On the last night, just as Amadeu believes he will have Nadia for him, the man comes back
