- Synopsis
- On Christmas Eve, Cal Baker gets an unexpected voicemail from Joe Dreyfus, an old friend and coworker he hasn't seen in years. He's in town on business and wants to catch up over dinner. Cal uneasily decides to go. As the night goes on, deeper truths begin to surface about Joe’s sudden departure and his life with his wife Laura and their daughter Casey. Cal is hurt over how they disappeared out of his life. He tells Cal it was best for him and Laura. He understands, but it hurts. On the way to the airport, Joe confesses it’s all been a lie. He’d been having an affair and she went to Laura with the truth. His marriage was destroyed, and he hasn’t seen Laura and Casey in over two years. They say their goodbyes and Cal heads to his parents’ home. He is greeted by Laura. We learn how after the breakup the two began a new life together. He regrets he couldn’t tell Joe the truth but knows that it was a mercy. The two sit together, hand-in-hand, in love and at peace in their life together.
