    • Synopsis
    • In 1950, in the thick of the Korean War, an unimaginable encounter takes place. Smith (Steve TASCHLER), a UN soldier who crash-lands in Dongmakgol, North Korean Military Commander LEE Soo-hwa (JEONG Jae-young) and his group who have fallen back, and the party of PYO Hyun-cheol (SHIN Ha-gyun), a South Korean soldier who has deserted his troop, all coincidentally encounter one another at Dongmakgol. When these men who would never mix gather to this place, the once peaceful Dongmakgol is filled with extreme tension. Will the shellfire of war indeed decimate Dongmakgol?
Deep in the mountains of Gangwon Province, unaware even of the war, sat Dongmakgol.
The 3 forces that gathered there guard against one another and even try to frighten the villagers, but usually just ended up feeling awkward and embarrassed at the simplicity and innocence of Yeo-il (GANG Hae-jeong) and the villagers who are unafraid even when they point guns and take out grenades. In the end the soldiers, who were on terms of extreme tension in the beginning, are assimilated to the villagers of Dongmakgol who are so warm and happy, and they till the fields together, catch a wild boar, pop corn, and even sled down a grassy hill together, gradually opening their hearts to one another.
But, the peace and happiness that envelope the entire village wouldn’t last so long. The tensions of war encroach upon it... and an unprecedented allied operation to save the village is put into place.
