- The segment UNA VOCE UMANA ("A human voice") was inspired by the play La Voix Humaine by Cocteau, about a phone call-monologue of a woman abandoned by her lover. The second segment, titled IL MIRACOLO ("The miracle"), tells the story of a poor and mad farmer, seduced by a stranger that she exchanges for St. Joseph.
