    • Synopsis
    • This is the story of Murali Kunnumpurath. Father, mother, wife, and daughter; that’s his family. His world consists of five friends who stand along through thick and thin, or so he thinks. Murali remained truthful to the society and those around him. Yet his world is topsy turvy many times due to his chronic alcoholism ranging to the extent of a disease that requires treatment. Even his most sincere acts cause discomfort or pose danger to those around. His behavior causes discord and severe relations even amidst events like marriage and death. His parents, wife, and children had to face humiliation. Day by day he is being expelled from family and from society as a whole. Being a slave to alcohol, he doesn’t realize this.
By the time he realizes that he’s all alone in this world, except for his companion, the bottle. Still, he is unable to resist temptation. The doctor who agrees to lead him through de-addiction gets fed up. But Murali tries to get hold of life from the point where he is left alone, rejected, by all around him, even his wife parents and friends. Being humiliated to the extreme extent urges him to fight back with an unforeseen strength.
But the society hardly accepts Murali, who is cured of his alcoholism. It’s like treating a person as insane even after he has long regained his sanity. Realizing that the attitude of the society won’t change, he decides to suicide. Fate spares him for a better life as a changed person.
The friends and family who realize that the life and acceptance of a person after de-addiction is their responsibility too stands by him. The quality of his life thus improves. He then becomes the icon who proves that success in life is very much addictive and of course, it is a happier addiction.
This is not an imaginary story. This is the real-life of Murali, from Kannur. Imagination and creativity are blended with life, just like spirit with water.
