    • Synopsis
    • Uzra is a 17-year old girl, living in a remote village in Afghanistan. She has a brother and a mother. On a dark night, armed men, who were her father’s enemies, kidnap and rape her. In the past she was in love with a young man named Shamshad. Uzra’s borther, without considering her will, marries her to Shamshad’s 45-year old brother. Shamshad’s brother, Mullah Jan, already has three wives. Uzra was raped just three months before her marriage and got pregnant as a result. Mullah Jan notices this fact after marriage. He finds various reasons to beat her. Her love for her husband’s brother, Shamshad, and the cruelty of Mullah Jan, promtps her to escape with Shamshad. While running away Mullah Jan finds them, kills Shamshad and hands Uzra over to the local police accusing her of an illicit affair and murder. Uzra is taken to a local jail, which serves a few of the districts nearby. She is then transferred to another prison when the presidential election campaign is going on. In the prison, a 45-year old female guard in police uniform keeps an eye on her. One night she notices that the guard takes her cellmates outside the prison gates and into a tinted glass car. She realizes that they are taken to entertain the warden and others. Uzra looks for ways to escape from jail but it is impossible. One night it is Uzra’s turn, and the guard comes to fetch her but she resists. Uzra is in her last days of pregnancy. One night riots occur in the area, and a number of anti-government people break through the prison gates. Right when the people fire, shout slogans, and break the gate, the guard takes the four young girls, including Uzra, out of their cell towards the back gate. The guard is armed and forces them into the tinted window car. Uzra’s labor pain increases and she is kicked out of the car. On the way to her village she gives birth and leaves the child at the door of a mosque, and walks toward her village. On her way she notices her mother has died and spends the night beside her grave. The second night her brother, who has lost everything in gambling, finds her and settles his debt by giving away his sister. But after this, Uzra faces a new tragedy in her life for having lost her virginity…

      DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Warm Bread and the Nipple’s Circle is about a woman who lives in the most rural area of Afghanistan, where most of the locals still have not seen cars, and roads are very ancient and difficult to pass. Here, local commanders rule and no media dares to report on the hard fate of these people. This film shows the life of women who have become victims of rape and tribal rivalries in Afghanistan. Some women are victims of gang rape and due to ignorance and illiteracy these acts go unreported by the girls' families. No longer virgins, the girls are killed. Afghan society has a low opinion of women in prison and everyone shuns them. In all regimes, government officials and prison administrators were raping imprisoned women. This practice still continues with the democratically elected current government. The message of this film is that law is still mere words in the books and in Afghanistan women are still victims of war, violence and traditions. Yet the government is corrupt and helpless women are taken advantage of. In post conflict countries, or in countries where war continues, like Afghanistan, human rights and women's rights are no more then a slogan and perhaps no one hears the voices of imprisoned women and sexually violated women. This is a realistic film, which will be produced with meaningful scenes, and a smooth and understandable structure in order to showcase the realistic facts of these young girls’ lives, the situation of the prisons and the girls who have been raped. The actors and actresses in this film are Afghan and their living conditions are more or less like the situations in the film. The film will be produced in 35 mm (silver) color format and will be filmed during the autumn season.
