    • Synopsis
    • Amid the chaos of a bustling airport, a 13-year-old boy walks with his mother toward the passport control gate, chatting and holding his passport in hand. Unbeknownst to him, his mother is stopped at the gate for lacking a passport. Oblivious, the boy continues forward, swept along by the flow of passengers.

When he realizes his mother is no longer by his side, he freezes in shock, scanning the distance for her familiar presence. Waves of travelers rush past, separating them further. Desperately, the boy tries to move against the current to reunite with her, but his mother’s silent gesture compels him to stop. She urges him to continue alone.

Torn and bewildered, the boy hesitates, overwhelmed by the weight of the moment. Glancing back, he sees an empty space behind him, devoid of people and his former life. With reluctant resolve, he turns and walks toward the terminal, stepping into an uncertain future without the comfort of his mother by his side.

This Short captures the universal themes of separation, resilience, and the painful transition from dependence to independence, as a boy from a war-torn country is forced to navigate the first steps of a journey into the unknown (as a refugee).
