Santiago returns to his father's house. In the countryside, his family is suffering from a severe drought. His father, Ernesto, welcomes him at gunpoint while his dog Arón protects him by imposing himself threateningly against his father. Ernesto decides, against his son's will, to sacrifice the family dog that has become a maroon. Arón, the sacrificed dog, emerges from his grave and his ghostly apparitions threaten Ernesto's sanity and shake the foundations of the family, which is left at the mercy of his wild impulses.
