    • Synopsis
    • Vessel tells the story of Rebecca Gomperts, a young idealist doctor, who, after being horrified by the realities caused by anti-abortion laws around the world, felt compelled to challenge the issue and answer the calling by providing abortions onboard a ship in offshore waters. She created Women on Waves, an underground global movement network of emboldened, informed activists. What began as a flawed spectacle, a media frenzy, faced with governmental, religious, and military blockade, soon after became a refined mission, followed by the revelation that new technologies can be used to bypass law, with women being trained to safely give themselves abortions, using WHO-sanctioned protocols with pills.
