The mundane worlds of Roberto, a crotchety widower and his successful son Samuel, whose is his closest contact with the outside world, change when Maria moves into the apartment next door. Like Roberto, Maria is widowed, and she has a daughter Sylvia who is experiencing marital problems. Sylvia opposes her mom’s sudden and inexplicable decision to sell her nice suburban home to move to the barrio. Roberto and Maria become closer and unbeknownst to them, their children cultivate a relationship on their own. Vecinos reminds us that no matter how easy it is to lose your identity in a city that won’t sit still, it’s even easier to lose it when you’re the one sitting still.
