    • Synopsis
    • Conal is a 22 year old with Downs Syndrome. He lives in Northern Ireland. Full of heavy metal attitude; he wants to be a Rock Star. Mum, Fionnuala, lost her husband 5 years ago and places a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of her daughter, Gemma, 18. She is Mum number 2.
Conal wants to be treated as an adult and Gemma wants her own life. Fionnuala is too stressed to take this on board. Whilst Gemma is looking forward to University in Scotland, Conal can only see his life getting worse. But he has a plan.
Next day, after walking out of a job interview before it begins, he heads to Gemma’s school, hoodwinks her into taking a trip to Antrim, agreed by mum, for getting the job. After missing the train, they get onto a tour bus, then things get a bit out of hand.
Mum is mad with Gemma, blaming her for taking Conal to Antrim. Gemma hangs up. Conal reveals his plan. He’s bought tickets, using his mum’s credit card, for an Ash gig in Belfast tonight. Let’s go. Annoyed with her mum, she agrees.
They meet two buskers on the bus, Conal rocks out with their guitar, the two of them get chucked off in the middle of nowhere with no working phone and no money.
Meanwhile, Fionnuala enlists the help of family friend, Fergus, to chase them down.
What happens next involves, vodka, crisps, a tractor crash, losing the tickets, sports car, separating and getting lost in Belfast; tractor owner in pursuit, selling everything, but still no way of getting to the gig together. Meanwhile Fionnuala is learning to chill.
So how will it end? Will they all get together somewhere? And most importantly, will they get to the gig?
