- Archeologist Ruth McConnell’s twin sister has died and she feels she is to blame. Lost in guilt, Ruth is detached from her sense of self. But an old friend, Dr. David Carter, is leading a team of colleagues, PhD students, and their retired mentor, Dr. Sarah Weaver on a dig to an island in the Bering Sea. David and Team One, already on the island, await Ruth, Sarah, and the rest of Team Two. But when Ruth and Team Two arrive, they find David beaten, bloodied, and ranting about the rest of his team.
