From Screen to Television… and Back to Screen “Umizaru” Embarks on its Final Climactic Voyage! “Umizaru,” Japan’s premier underwater adventure saga about Coast Guard rescue divers, returns to the silver screen! What began as a top ten box office hit in 2004, “Umizaru,” and then spent a year on television as a popular serial drama, comes full circle as a dramatic feature film, “Umizaru 2: Test of Trust (Japanese title: “Limit of Love” ). “Umizaru 2” represents the much-anticipated, climactic finale to Japan’s first ever film-and-TV project with unprecedented sea and underwater footage, shot with the full cooperation and support of the Japan Coast Guard. On location filming off the coasts of Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures, an enormous specially-built set and computer graphics combine to stage the dramatic sinking of an enormous passenger ferry boat, the film’s centerpiece. The lead role, search-and-rescue diver Daisuke Senzaki, finds himself in a life-or-death rescue situation that not only tests his will and physical limits but forces him to come to terms with personal issues of love, trust and redemption.
