- Brate and his family fled the Balkan war in 1994 and sought a new home in Switzerland. Integration initially challenging until Brate meets Fätze, a Swiss boy, and they form a deep friendship. After the death of Fätzte's mother, the boys learn to deal with loss, the value of friendship, grief and growing up. Eventually however, they go their separate ways.
  
  Many years later, the two meet again in the town where they grew up. They talk about their youth, the passed time and the decisions they have made in their lives. But there are still secrets of the past hiding.
