- An undocumented Brazilian dancer lives the American Dream in the 1990s, working as a performer in Latin American dance clubs across Miami. One day she finds a sponsorship job through a cruise ship company, and goes for a short trip to The Bahamas, to deal with her work visa application at the American Embassy, leaving her 6-year-old daughter with a nanny. What seemed like a life-changing opportunity is turned into a nightmare. Something goes terribly wrong and she is barred from reentering the United States. Penniless, with nothing but the clothes on her back, the dancer now races against time to get back her daughter who is waiting for her in Miami.
