    • Synopsis
    • The Windmill (Die Windpomp) is a quirky, endearing and thought provoking love story revolving around Hendri and Margot, two young people and their summer romance in a retirement village. New to the village, Hendri gets taken under the wing of an elderly eccentric, Aunty Marietjie.

One night, Hendri follows three figures through the forest where he discovers Marietjie and the other elderly folks diving into a large pond, a windmill rising from its centre. A beautiful young girl appears and introduces herself as Margot. Hendri is smitten with this mysterious beauty. But all is not what it seems in Hendri’s world.

The Windmill (Die Windpomp) moves from campy and quaint comedy/drama, through romance, fantasy, and mystery, and climaxes deep into the philosophical questions on the nature of love.
