The Watchmaker’s Apprentice is a fairy-tale about the quirks of fate, represented by three “Fates” in particular: brothers Rodovoj and Rodovít and their sister Lichoradka. It is a story about love, greed, and the small-minded-ness of man, but also about craftsmanship, and the courage.

    • Synopsis
    • Standing over the cradle of newborn Urban are three Fates: two benevolent ones who wish him wealth and love in life, and the evil one predicting poverty and endless hardship. Whose prophesy will prove the stronger? Urban is soon orphaned and a miserly master watchmaker takes him in as an apprentice. When Urban grows up, he falls in love with the watchmaker’s daughter, Laura, and her father sends him off into the world to seek a watch that no one is sure even exists – a legendary watch that can warn of death. If Urban fails to bring it, Laura will never become his wife. Urban sets off on a long journey full of obstacles and tasks he must face with bravery, watchmaking skills, and a good heart. His love for Laura drives him onward just as the three Fates are ever at his back, two to help him along and one constantly trying to trip him up.
