- Synopsis
- ETHAN CAMPBELL (Hedlund) is stuck in an endless cycle of tutoring jobs, disillusioned by his wealthy clients' overt wealth and behavior. He’s working under time constraints of financial pressure: his girlfriend, ANNIE MATHIS (Justice) an actress, is a few months pregnant with their first child. The CEO of Ethan’s tutoring company, calls with an unexpected work offer, Ethan was requested by an undisclosed family offering one thousand dollars per day. Although Ethan is wary of leaving Annie, the money is too good to pass up.
  Ethan arrives to a massive waterfront three-story mansion and meets student JACKSON (Schnapp) a timid young man. When Ethan provides practice SAT sections, Jackson completes them with perfect scores in a third of the time allotted. Jackson tells Ethan that GAVIN (Weston) is his cousin and summers with Jackson’s family. When Ethan inquires about his mother, Jackson becomes visibly upset, blurting that she was sent away to a mental institution. Changing subjects, Jackson mentions Annie and their baby: he doesn’t discuss his personal life with his students, and they’ve been keeping the pregnancy a secret. When Ethan takes a late-night swim in the pool, he notices Jackson watching him from an upstairs window. Ethan quickly finds out that Jackson has been watching him before his arrival and he has been called here for a reason.
