Summer is coming to Nicaragua and Maycol and Bryan will start to learn their families’ trade, shark hunting. In a place where traditional trades disappear in favour of drug trafficking, these two boy choose their future. A coming of age film set in the forgotten Caribbean coast of Nicaragua.

    • Synopsis
    • Maycol and Bryan are inseparable friends, in the forgotten Greytown, on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua a village isolated from the rest of the country by a dense jungle and a dangerous sea. Their days spent hunting and playing together will soon be finished. This summer will mark the end of their childhood and an abrupt journey into adulthood. Both children work for Juan, Maycol’s father, an old fisherman and former soldier during the civil war who is in charge of introducing both children to the trade.
      Bryan, small and delicate, is anxious and full of emotion as he bravely embarks on his first trip to the sea. Maycol, a shy and strong boy doesn’t seem so eager to spend the long days and nights on a boat hunting. He feels tempted to follow his brothers’ path into drug trafficking. These two boys seem to be perhaps two the last shark hunters of Greytown; the trade is disappearing along with the species.
      Opportunities for young people in Greytown are scarce and drug trafficking seems to be the risk-free job in a town visibly scarred, by rusting ammunitions and burnt out houses, by the recent war. This is a world in which Maycol and Bryan will have to find their own path.
