Teo is a 12 year old child who lives with his father, Luis, in an apartment building in a run-down area of the city center. Luis, a former physics teacher turned inventor and electrician, devotes his time to the obsessive pursuit of creating a strange rain-generating machine, neglecting his son’s basic needs.
Teo supports his father by working the ticket stall at the Tauro Cinema. He also helps him develop the machine and fix appliances for a living. Teo has developed and extraordinary knack for arming and dismantling gadgets.
During a concert at the Tauro Cinema, Teo demonstrates his skills by fixing a technical issue on the stage’s upper framework that nearly brings the show to an end. Baca (16), leader of a gang dedicated to espionage, is aware of Teo’s talents and offers him the chance to join them. The gang is also comprised of Haya (15) and Raisa (15), Baca’s girlfriend, who Teo feels particularly attracted to.
Pressured by the upcoming foreclosure of Luis’ apartment, Teo agrees to join the gang. His dexterous hands allow them to work more efficiently and generate more income their. Teo’s bravery easily wins him Baca’s trust. His newly earned money allows him to help Luis focus on the development of his machine and prevent them from getting evicted. Feelings of independence and empowerment begin to grow within Teo, bringing about changes in his character. He grows to disdain his father’s romanticism and limitations and work and to constantly stand up to him, jeopardizing their relationship.
Teo leaves home and moves to the gang’s hideout. Humiliated, Luis pushes the machine to into overdrive, without knowing this could mean the machine’s own death. Meanwhile, Teo’s life with the gang generates new emotions in him, through which he will discover the place he truly belongs in.
