- Having passed the age of 60 and after decades of living between Rome and the rest of the world, the Professor now lives in Montalto di Castro, at the border between Lazio and Tuscany, in the company of a young Ukrainian maid, Inez. In the space of just 24 hours, between dawn on a Friday and dawn on a Saturday at the end of September, the Professor will live as if inside a continuous and contiguous flow of past and present, of dreams and memories, desires and passions,
  hopes and regrets, as in the James Joyce “Ulysse”, the book which the Professor loves so much. But the traces and signals of the past that continually cross the weak diaphragm separating them from the present materialize on Friday evening.
  And here appears the love of a lifetime, desired and feared, Monika! In the dawn of the new day, sitting on the prow of a boat, the Professor/Ulysses waits by the sea for the Saturday light to dawn. But a woman’s hand rests on his shoulder.
