- Elliot (15) struggles at school, friendless and odd, he finds refuge in his relationship with Julie, a girl he has never met. So when she breaks up with him it threatens to tear his carefully constructed world apart. Elliot volunteers at a local care home, where he meets the grouchy and insular Irvin, a gay man who believes his best years are behind him. Irvin asks Elliot to get him some weed, Elliot initially refuses but when Julie breaks up with him he needs Irvin’s help. He makes a deal with Irvin, I get you the drugs, you get me to Scotland. Stealing Elliot’s sister’s car and making a drastic (and somewhat pointless) escape from the care home, the odd pair set off on the open road to Skye. On their journey they stop off at York to see Irvin’s granddaughter, get stranded in the Scottish Highlands and nearly killed in Edinburgh. All the while, Elliot’s Mother and the police are hot on their tails. Eventually we start to wonder whether they’ll ever make it to Julie...
