Kimberley Ann SURIN (Afro Dynamic FIlms), Ina FICHMAN (Intuitive Pictures)
Synopsis
On August 3, 1996, in front of 85,000 stunned spectators, four Canadian sprinters - Robert Esmie, Donovan Bailey, Glenroy Gilbert and Bruny Surin - achieved what was once thought as impossible : winning the Olympic gold medal in the 4x100 relay event, defeating the American team and world champions on their home soil.
25 years later, film director and writer Kimberley Ann, looks deeply at her father's team's legacy and its place in Canadian sports. In The Relay, we meet team members who speak candidly about their experiences as we relive the drama and tension of this extraordinary race.
