    • Synopsis
    • Gestapo agent Bader is given the order to gather the Third Reich’s most prominent prisoners and transport them beyond the reach of the advancing Allies, to be held as bargaining chips for more favorable terms of surrender.

Among the prisoners are Bogislaw von Bonin, a German colonel with a methamphetamine addiction haunted by his past; renowned British master spy Sir Payne Best; Scottish commando Mad Jack Day; Italian partisans Davide Ferrero and Monica Dirossi; prime minister of France Leon Blum and his wife, Janot; and Austrian chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg, his wife Vera, and their daughter.

With the end of the war rapidly approaching and Germany’s collapse at hand, Bader struggles to find a location to secure the Prominents. As he continues pushing south in his desperation to fulfill his orders, the convoy encounters escalating danger: Allied aerial attacks, collapsing bridges, partisan ground attacks, and end-of-war chaos.

Monica Dirossi plans to avenge the deaths of her countrymen at the hands of the Germans by killing Colonel Bonin, who contemplates suicide. Meanwhile, the Schuschniggs struggle with their own complicity in the war’s atrocities as their friendship with the Jewish Blums grows.
When the caravan reaches an Italian village, Sir Payne Best discovers the full orders of their Nazi captors: if the mission looks like it will fail, liquidate all the prisoners.

After Germany surrenders Italy, Bader insists on following through with his murderous orders. Mad Jack helps Ferrero and the local partisans plan an attack against Bader and his men until learning they also plan to butcher the German Prominents. Colonel Bonin hatches a plan to try to avoid bloodshed by asking the German army to protect the Prominents. With the German army, SS, Gestapo, partisans, and personal vendettas standing in his way, will Colonel Bonin be able to avoid bloodshed, save the Prominents, and redeem himself, or will the hell of fascism claim them as its victims?
