- Synopsis
- One day, an ordinary man goes to town to buy some fish. He is mistaken for a thief and gets chased. The man hides himself in the basement of a building. A policeman finds him, searches him and discovering his innocence he leaves, carelessly commanding him to not move until his return. The man, way too obedient, interprets paradoxically the words of the policeman. He remains for days and days frozen, with his hands up, waiting for him. The only relief is given to him by his wife, that accompanies him with love in his imprisonment. In the meanwhile, the tenants of the building discover the man and noticing his state of abandonment and misery, call the police. The officer comes back, but doesn't recognize his victim. And when he is asked for freedom, he blindly unleashes his violence against him. The husband and wife, emptied and disorientated, leave the basement to go back to their lives.
