    • Synopsis
    • Madhavi Sawant is a conscientious and proficient prison officer, a
staunch believer in transparent and disciplined prison administration.
She strives to transform the corrupt administration of prisons. In her
attempt to clean the crooked system, she uncovers the corrupt nexus
of prison administrators and politicians. The people she hurts in this
process are unsettled and try to avenge for her deeds. They ploy to
shame her, destroy her confidence and get rid of her. They conspire a
gang rape on her! Madhavi is shattered by this assault. She has to fight now a battle of
bringing change in corrupt prison administration and also of facing
humiliation of being a rape victim. Madhavi stands strong during the
inhumane procedure of fighting her case and strongly opposes the
patriarchal society which objectifies women. Bandishala is a film that
tries to depict the world of jail premises, its corrupt administrators and
how it all gets disturbed by an honest woman prison officer. At the
same time, film also attempts to show how the real world is controlled
by people in power and run it in manner of a jail. For centuries men
have treated women as prisoners and terrorized them.
