Karate, an ancient discipline intended for self-defense and the nourishing of the body and the mind, has risen from the ashes of the Bushidō (the ancient code of the Samurai) and from Zen philosophy. Over time, the way this martial art was practiced has changed together with the way people interact with it. This work investigates the origins of the ancient Karate-dō. Through the words of the great Sensei it investigates individual stories unheard of before, as well as the modernity and peculiarity of an art, a culture, and a world that are vastly unexplored and full of charm. A way that ultimately aims at the betterment of the self.
