    • Synopsis
    • Dino Lora Totino was a man with a dream: of overcoming the physical barriers that divide nations, uniting peoples by passing over, or under, the mountains that separate them.
He was an engineer, wool entrepreneur, and skilful diplomat. He expertly combined technological competence with business sense.
In the post-war years he worked intensely to reconnect Italy and France, two nations that the war had inexorably divided. He crowned his dreams in works of majestic beauty, such as the alpine cableways of Aiguille du Midi and Valleé Blanche, as well as works of strategic importance for communication and trade like the Mont Blanc tunnel.
His works, still in operation today, testify to the epic deeds of the great constructions in the Alps, an era where progress seemed to have no limits, while today development must take account of landscape protection and environmental impact.
A story that will be told from the heights of the most spectacular mountains in Europe: Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn, because Europe, as Dino Lora Totino said, is a continent to be viewed from above, removing obstacles between nations, constructing bridges and fulfilling ideals instead of raising barriers.
