Synopsis
Suggested by an inspiring, true life story, The Lucky Three follows PATRICK NASH in his pursuit of his dream to be a successful high school band director. That his new job is at the budget-challenged Trent High, home of the Screaming Eagles, where the values are Football, God and country, should be challenge enough. But his struggles are compounded by his Tourette’s Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder, or the “Lucky Three” as it’s informally known, and the inherent fear and prejudice that follow. The “Lucky Three” not only represents Patrick’s personal disorders but also three other lives he touches and changes: Miguel Espinoza a talented but troubled student, with a passion for music and an undisciplined wild streak to match; Joseph “DOC” Boone, Patrick’s emotionally wounded mentor and Marta Johnson, a tightly wound African American fine arts teacher, who has not recovered from her own brushes with prejudice and suspicion. It’s through Patrick’s struggles, growth and ultimate triumphs that these other characters truly become “The Lucky Three.” Sometimes you just don't know how lucky you are.
