    • Synopsis
    • A boy lives in the Lao jungle outside a rural village. His family barters crops to survive, but the dry season has parched their fields. Worse, the boy’s mother has tuberculosis. After his father abandons them, the boy is left to care for his mother. After witnessing the death of a young woman in an accident on the road between his farm and the village, the boy befriends the girl’s silent spirit.
50 years later. Despite urban development, the countryside remains the same. The village has adapted to offer a rustic experience for rich tourists. The old man walks with the girl’s spirit and has a dark reputation among the superstitious villagers. His regret over his mother’s death has bred a pathological need to ease the suffering of the terminally ill. He’s kidnapped and euthanized several sick women.
When the old man learns that the girl’s spirit can take him back in time, he trespasses into his own past to correct his mistakes. Each trip to the past changes the future, but he can’t save his mother’s life. As her condition worsens, the old man sets makes a final plan to convince his younger self to preempt her painful death.
