- Synopsis
- Manuel decides it ́s time to find his half-brother, someone he once heard about as a child but who, like his late father ́s memory, was forgotten and faded away. But finding him will only be a pretext to achieve his true aim, to understand his inability to talk openly and truthfully about fatherhood: the fatherhood he lacked as a child that was taken on by a single mother, the fatherhood that he imposed on himself during adolescence and that was reshaped by his siblings as they grew up. The Living and the Dead is a film about love, honesty, and reconciliation in a family where the living will have to turn to the dead to find the answer to who they really are.
